KARACHI: Four suspects were apprehended during ongoing raids in different parts of the metropolis on Wednesday (May 24).

At least two suspects were arrested in a targeted raid conducted by the Rangers in the Lyari neighbourhood. They were later identified as Maqbool Ali and Haseeb. According to the Rangers spokesperson, the arrested suspects belonged to the Uzair Baloch and Baba Ladla gangs based in Lyari. They were wanted in various cases of targeted killing and extortion.

Separately, the paramilitary force also arrested another suspect, Javed Hussain Khaskheli alias Javed Qandhari, during a raid conducted in a locality in Gulberg. The accused was wanted in various cases of crime including an encounter with the police. The Rangers also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from his possession while further investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police claimed to have arrested a suspected target killer. The accused, identified as Faisal alias Billu, was arrested during a raid on a tip-off conducted at Masan Road in the Jackson area. CTD in-charge Ali Raza said the accused, who is allegedly affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - London, revealed during the initial course of interrogation that he has been involved in at least four cases of targeted killings in Khokhrapar, Malir. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
