'Sports can counter extremist ideals'

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar Vice Chancellor Dr Razia Sultana emphasised the need for co-curricular activities on the campuses and urged faculty and staff member to play their role in character building of their students.

Condemning the brutal killing of Mashal Khan at Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, she urged universities to create an environment where students not only get education, but also acquire a character which is open to discourse while believing in peace and tolerance.

This she shared while chairing a meeting with all faculty and staff members related to discipline and peace building on Tuesday at SBWU Peshawar main Campus Larama, Peshawar.


Highlighting the importance of student’s societies on university level, Sultana urged the head of different departments to set up student societies to engage students in positive activities.

She said that on departmental, interdepartmental, affiliated college level sports activities should be organised by the respective societies while the university must fully support and encourage such activities.
