LAHORE: A judicial magistrate sent a gang of five girls on a 14-day judicial remand for allegedly stealing money from a woman’s purse at a shopping mall.

Factory Area police produced Saima, Shehnaz, Bushra, Maryam and Uzma before a magisterial court, contending they were accused of stealing Rs16,000 from the purse of a woman at the mall.

Robbery or murder? Woman found dead in mysterious circumstances

The investigation officer said the accused girls were relatives and involved in different crimes at shopping malls. He said the suspects stalked the woman and started assembling near her one by one. After a short while, they ambushed the victim in such a way that she had no clue she was being robbed.

On the other hand, the counsel for the accused girls told the court that it was a concocted story to implicate innocent girls in a false case. He said it was astonishing that the complainant claimed Rs16,000 were stolen, but police recovered Rs21,000. However, the judge sent the accused to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

A police officer told The Express Tribune that complainant Amir Sarwar got an FIR registered alleging he, along with his ‘bhabi’, were shopping when the amount was stolen from the purse.

They complained to the mall management which fully cooperated and examined the CCTV footage. They recognised the girls who had assembled near them. The security of the shopping mall caught the girls and women officials frisked them. They recovered the said amount and the girls were handed over to the police.
