KARACHI: Pakistan batting legends Misbahul Haq and Younus Khan walked off the pitch for the last time on Saturday in the third Test against West Indies at Roseau as they were welcomed and sent off with great admiration for their services.

Misbah (2) and Younus (35) were both given a guard of honour by Pakistani players when they were dismissed for the last time in Test cricket.

During their engrossing careers, both players made and broke innumerable records; serving the country at a time when cricket in Pakistan suffered one set back after the other.

Misbah scored 5,222 Test runs in 74 matches, while amassing 5,122 runs in 162 ODIs for Pakistan, averaging 43.40. His T20I average of 37.52 in 39 matches also speaks volumes about his ability to clear the boundary reliably.

Younus, meanwhile, is Pakistan’s most prolific Test batsman by a margin. He is the only Pakistani to score 10,099 runs and a record 34 centuries for the country along the way. His ODI record, 7,249 runs in 265 matches, is also very impressive but perhaps his greatest moment came in the shortest format when he led Pakistan to the World T20 championship in 2009.

95% people think Younus is Pakistan’s best-ever Test batsman

As the two veterans walked out on to the field for the last time on Sunday against West Indies, social media went abuzz with messages and felicitations for the Pakistani greats.

Zaheer | 7 years ago | Reply Uundoubtedly Misbah and Younis were the pillars of Pakistan cricket and achieved many milestones which many people dreams, the words are short to praised their services to Pakistan cricket. One day everyone has to retired from their field but their at their peak is a good decision and will definitely set a new trend in our cricket. The duo made a history of Pakistan cricket and their retirement at their peak will set a new trend, the duo made a history of Pakistan cricket with their abilities, professionalism and behaviour off and on the field. Thank you Misbah. Thank you Younis for your services. God Bless You.
Fiz | 7 years ago | Reply The best of the present lot walked out of the ground for the last time on Saturday. My great respect for them. They have carved their name in history forever and earned huge respect in the era of paucity of values in the world. I respect Sarfraz Ahmad too. He's my next hero now.
