Senate unanimously calls for high level investigation commission to probe attacks and seeks report at the earliest.
ISLAMABAD:
The Upper House of the Parliament on Friday strongly condemned two suicide attacks on Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and called upon the government to identify the reasons and perpetrators behind these attacks and other terrorist incidents.
The senate unanimously passed a resolution and called for constitution of a high level investigation commission to probe the attacks and sought a report at the earliest. It also expressed sympathy with bereaved families and injured persons.
Leader of the House Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that the initial investigation report of the first attack had been prepared.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, supporting the resolution said that Raymond Davis was an agent of the US intelligence agency and his release was followed by the attacks on tribal elders. He claimed that there were many agents of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Pakistan.
Senator Raza Rabbani responding to Haidari, said that the government of Pakistan also condemned those drone attacks on tribal elders and the US envoy in Pakistan was summoned by Foreign Ministry to lodge protest adding that Pakistan also boycotted a scheduled conference in Brussels in protest of those drone attacks.
Senator Haji Lashkari said that the JUI-F chief should summon an ulema conference to convey a strong message to the people against suicide attacks and terrorism.
