Pressure group: Civil society backs FATA reforms

Fata Democratic Movement announced to support the establishment of a 10-member committee.

PESHAWAR: The Fata Democratic Movement, a civil society pressure group, has announced to support the establishment of a 10-member committee of political parties for the introduction of reforms in the tribal areas and other such initiatives.

Addressing a press conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the office-bearers of the movement, Abdul Rahim Afridi and Ejaz Ahmad Afridi, that Fatas was basically beset by political problems which can be resolved democratically by progressive political parties.

They said that Fata had consistently been sidelined over the last 63 years which is why there is no sign of development in the area.
