Defence secretary summoned in drone attacks case

The Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned the defence secretary in the drone attacks case on Tuesday.
Defence Secretary Syed Athar Ali was summoned by the Lahore High Court when it took up a case against drone attacks that was initially raised in a petition filed by Khalid Khawaja..
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif said the courts can go to any extent in order to save the sovereignty of the country.
Justice Sharif heard the drone attacks case. A notice has been issued to Secretary Defence Syed Athar Ali in this regard. Present in the court, the deputy attorney general said since the petitioner has died, therefore, the court should issue orders for a new petitioner.
The hearing has been adjourned till May 28.
