Tech companies are known to pay absurdly high salaries to their employees and this also stands true for internees. While an average worker in the US earns around $50,000 per year, interns working at some of the biggest tech companies have salaries ranging between $96,000 to $55,000 if they work for a full 12 months.

Here is a list of top 10 tech companies that have the highest-paying internship programmes:

1. Facebook – Median Monthly Pay: $8,000

Social networking giant Facebook tops the list with an average monthly pay of $8,000. The intern programme has also been ranked No 1 on Glassdoor for two years in a row.

2. Microsoft – Median Monthly Pay: $7,100

Software giant Microsoft takes second place which pays an average of $7,100 to its interns. The 12-weeks summer internships programme is designed specifically for freshmen and sophomores and is perfect for those who aspire to become software developers and are majoring in a technical field.

3. Salesforce – Median Monthly Pay: $6,450

Cloud computing firm Salesforce has the third highest paying internship programme by a US tech company. The programme, which pays an average of $6,450 a month, makes interns work on real projects that affect how the business runs, giving them the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of the company.

With offices all over the world, recruits under Salesforce also have the chance to collaborate and connect with fellow employees on a global scale.

4. Amazon – Median Monthly Pay: $6,400

E-commerce behemoth comes in at fourth, offering an average of $6,400 to its interns. The programme provides recruits with opportunities to work on complex and challenging problems that can impact millions of Amazon’s customers.

In addition to this, the internship programme also offers training modules and guided mentorship to help support interns’ growth and ability to deliver on projects.

5. Apple – Median Monthly Pay: $6,400

Tech giant Apple takes the fifth spot with an internship programme for undergrad and grad students paying an average of $6,400 per month. The Cupertino-based firm offers summers internships where recruits get a chance to work on critical projects and be a part of the Apple community. Interns also get a unique perspective on the company’s processes and those who lead it.
