Scorching heat: Ice blocks, air coolers for animals in Bahawalpur Zoo

BAHAWALPUR: As part of measures to protect animals and visitors from scorching heat, the zoo administration in Bahawalpur has installed air coolers and provided ice blocks in the cages.

While speaking to journalists on Friday, Zoo Curator Ayub Sabir said the steps were taken keeping in view the current heatwave. He added, “Pelican Pond has been cleaned after 15 years and 500 different species of fish have been put in it.” He maintained, “We have installed three water coolers at different locations so visitors can drink cold water.”

Sabir pointed, “In order to provide shade to the visitors, a 50 feet green shelter has been installed in the zoo premises.” He said  air coolers were provided in animal cages to protect them from heat.
