ISLAMABAD: With residents of the capital complaining about the rising traffic pains on the Expressway, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday admonished the capital’s Traffic Police (TP) for failing to resolve the issue.

“If you (ITP) and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) cannot facilitate citizens, you have no right to increase difficulties in their lives,” he said this while chairing a meeting on Wednesday.

With the meeting attended by senior officers of the interior ministry’s attached departments, Nisar asked both NADRA and the traffic police why problems of citizens were not being addressed.

“Why does the interior ministry have to intervene in every issue. Why do not the institutes do their own work,” the annoyed minister asked, noting that rising problems for the citizens commuting between the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad was unbearable.

Nisar added that tough decisions could be taken on top positions in relevant departments if the situation fails to change.

The minister also took notice of trees being felled illegally in the Margalla Hills and directed the Islamabad Chief Commissioner to ensure prompt implementation of the remarks and instructions issued by the Supreme Court in this regard.

He also asked the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration why action had not been taken against those involved in this violation.

Nisar directed senior officials of the ICTA to visit the affected sites. He further directed the Capital Development Authority(CDA) and the district administration to take action against officials who had failed to curb illegal logging in the capital.
