Celebrating discovery: Veterinary university marks DNA Day

The day is celebrated to remember the discovery of the DNA double-helix structure by James Watson and Francis Crick.

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences’ (UVAS) Lahore observed the International DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) Day at its Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT) on Tuesday.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha led an awareness walk that started from the VC’s office and culminated in front of the DNA monument at IBBT. Several faculty members and a large number of students participated in the walk. The day is celebrated to remember the discovery of the DNA double-helix structure, as major advances in health, agriculture and biotechnology took place after this discovery by James Watson and Francis Crick that was reported on April 25, 1953.
