FAISALABAD: A court awarded death sentence on four counts to an accused for his involvement in a quadruple murder case in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The judgment was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Khalid Saeed Wattoo.

The prosecution told the court that accused Ghulam Mustafa and his accomplices Ansar, Bashir and Shamshad Bibi had gunned down their rivals Irfan, Nasir, Liaqat and Yawar over a property dispute in 2011.

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Ghulam Mustafa along with a fine of Rs1.2 million as compensation money. However, the court acquitted Bashir and Shamshad Bibi over lack of evidence while Ansar was declared a proclaimed offender. The accused was sent to District Jail Faisalabad.
