Chant slogans against local cleric who refused to lead funeral prayers for the slain student

SWABI:
Members of trade unions, civil society and political parties on Thursday protested against a local cleric who refused to lead funeral prayers for the slain student Mashal Khan and urged the Supreme Court (SC) to give exemplary punishment to those involved in the crime.

The march was led by the councilors of the Ziada union of the Swabi district and the people chanted slogans against the local cleric, the university administration and Mardan police.

The protesters held postcards and banners saying “We want justice for Mashal Khan”.

The march started from Mashal Khan house and ended at the main square of Zaida village and a Fatiha was also offered at the end of the protest.

For the first time the local traders union, village councilors and members of civil society took part in peaceful march, which was aimed to support the family.
