ISLAMABAD: After graduating, students would have an opportunity to utilise the knowledge and expertise gained during their studies to contribute to the country.

This was stated by Foundation Power Company Daharki Limited (FPCDL) Managing Director Lt Gen (retired) Jamil Haider while addressing the convocation of Foundation University Islamabad (FUI) at the varsity’s auditorium on Thursday.

Around 175 students graduated and were awarded degrees. Haider also handed out seven gold medals, six silver medals, 28 distinction certificates and 37 merit certificates.

Convocation: 796 graduates conferred degrees

He said that the convocation marks a transition for students from undertaking studies at the university to the practical life. However, he said that graduates would now have an opportunity to use their knowledge and expertise in the service of their country and humanity.

“This new phase [of your lives] which, while imposing new challenges, also offers great opportunities to contribute towards making Pakistan a vibrant and respectable country amongst the comity of nations,” he said.

“Faculty development is another important function of any institution of higher learning. To remain abreast with the rapid expansion of knowledge, the university needs to have a regular plan for continuing education for all levels of the faculty,” he stressed.
