COAS discusses regional security situation with Iranian envoy

RAWALPINDI: Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Wednesday to discus the regional security situation, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

During their meeting, the two officials discussed the evolving regional security matrix, the military’s media wing said.

Other issues of mutual interest, including measures against the common threat of terrorism, were also discussed, the statement added.

The army chief said that Pakistan greatly values the historic Pak-Iran relationship and that the same shall continue based on mutual trust and respect for each other’s interests.

The Iranian ambassador also acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions towards regional peace and stability.
