Dr Shah files case against the PCB

KARACHI:
The Sindh Sports Minister Dr Mohammad Ali Shah has lodged legal proceedings against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being disqualified from running in the KCCA elections that take place on May 22.

The PCB disqualified Dr Shah on the basis that he is representing a political party in the provincial assembly and is already holding the sports ministry. However, according to his lawyer, there is no clause or phrase in the PCB constitution that allows them to do so. “We have challenged PCB’s election procedure because it violates the 2007 PCB constitution,” Dr Shah’s lawyer Saifi Ali Khan told The Express Tribune.

“The PCB governing board needs to propose the amendments to the sports board for approval and if it approves the draft only then is it applicable. But in Dr Shah’s case, PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt forced the governing body to make this amendment without the federal sports ministry’s consent.”
