Security forces foil major terrorist act planned for Quetta
Pickup truck rigged with 80 kilos of explosives recovered and two terrorists taken into custody
Security forces claimed late Saturday night that they have foiled a major terrorist act planned for Quetta.
The forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Chaman, a town of Balochistan near the border with Afghanistan, and recovered a pickup truck rigged with 80 kilos of explosives, the military’s media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement.
The vehicle was prepared as an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and was to be used for a terrorist attack in Quetta, the statement said.
The information was revealed by two terrorists who were arrested in the IBO during interrogation, it added.
The IBO was conducted based on intelligence reports that a vehicle rigged with explosives was coming to Pakistan from Afghanistan for a terrorist activity.
