Combing operations: 17 arrested in Taxila, Pindi

Rangers handed over the detained men and the cache of weapons to Taxila police

RAWALPINDI: As part of ongoing operations against criminal and terrorist elements in the city, law enforcement agencies on Saturday searched different parts of Rawalpindi, arresting 17 people for keeping illegal weapons and liquor.

LEAs, along with local police searched five houses in the Manzoorabad neighbourhood of Taxila and arrested five men and seized illegal weapons.

In addition, they also seized three sub-machine guns, three 30 bore pistols, three 12 bore rifles, eight pistols of 8mm, three pistols of 9mm, one 44-bore rifle, one 222-bore gun along with ammunition and 100 litres of home-made liquor. At least 25 bottles of branded wine were also recovered.

In another combing operation in Gangmandi, Rangers arrested seven men and seized illegal weapons. The law enforcers seized two 9mm pistols, three 30-bore pistols, two 12-bore rifles, three cell phones, a Honda City car, and 50 tins of liquor.
