Serving humanity: Orphanage celebrates 75 years of service

Senator Qayum recalls Quaid-i-Azam had donated Rs500 to the institute in 1944

ISLAMABAD:
The iconic Rawalpindi orphanage, Anjuman Faizul Islam, celebrated its platinum jubilee on Saturday.

“Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah had visited the institute in 1944 and made a personal donation of Rs500,” Senator Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum said while speaking at the ceremony to mark the platinum jubilee of the orphanage set up in 1942.

Over 1,000 orphans and poor children from all over the country, including 200 from Balochistan and 100 from Gilgit-Baltistan, are taken care of at Anjuman Faizul Islam, the Senator noted.


Apart from marking 75 years of the facility, Saturday’s even also marked Pakistan day. Annual prizes were also distributed among children.

The institution has six major branches dealing not only with the upbringing of orphans but also providing them free health and education facilities.

Anjuman Faizul Islam runs its own hospitals and technical training institutes while its largest facility is in Mandra area of
Rawalpindi.
