LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has introduced new internet-based software to make information about all cases available online and curb any chance of corruption.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Enterprise System developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board on Saturday, LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said the information available on the internet would end the uncertainty of fixation of cases among lawyers as well as the litigants.

The new system, he added, will make it easier not only for the lawyers but also for the litigants who have to come to courts from far-flung areas to know about the status of their cases.

The previous software used by the LHC was unable to handle the load of data and an efficient system has been prepared in collaboration with the PITB. E-filing of cases has been made possible with the cooperation of lawyers.

Justice Mansoor said the software would end the practice of using CC number of lawyers as their CNICs would now be used for their identification. “Lawyers and litigants will be intimated about their cases through SMS or email,” he said.
