South Waziristan IDPs to be repatriated in April

They will be provided Rs35,000 and six months ration

The federal government has decided to complete the return of internally displaced persons of South Waziristan Agency to their native areas this month.

According to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) Disaster Management Authority, the return of the remaining IDPs will begin on April 10, Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.

A special registration center has been set up at Khairgai check-post in Frontier Region Tank to facilitate the IDPs.

They will be provided Rs35,000 cash and six months ration.

In March, FDMA Operations and Relief Assistant Director Mian Adil Zahoor told The Express Tribune that 90% of people displaced from North and South Waziristan agencies due to violence in the region had been safely repatriated.
