SPLA teachers released

The City Court has ordered the release of 30 professors and lecturers who had been arrested during a protest.

KARACHI: The City Court has ordered the release of 30 professors and lecturers on Friday who had been arrested during a protest.

The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) had earlier staged a protest outside DG College on March 24 to press for the increase in their salaries.

The protest soon turned violent and police had to use force to stop them from marching towards the Chief Minister's House.

Several teachers and lecturers of various colleges were arrested and booked for violence.

The teachers were presented in the City Court for remand where the judge ordered for their release on bail.
