LAHORE: Sports make students better human beings. It teaches tolerance and encourages the spirit of competitiveness, said Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani.

He was speaking at the Annual Sports Day of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) in which around 3,000 students participated.

The minister said that LCWU was made one of the finest sports nurseries for producing and grooming sportswomen for national teams, besides it had involved its students and faculty members in healthy sports activities. He advised the university’s students to never compromise on the standards of sportsmanship. “Sportsmanship is more important than winning an event. Pakistan has the best human resource in the world and there is only need to be loyal to our country and work hard,” he added.

The student participants belonged to the 42 departments of the university and were part of different events.
