Dacoit killed 'by accomplices' in encounter

A most-wanted dacoit, involved in dozens of serious criminal cases, was killed during a police encounter within the limits of Gaggo Mandi police station.
According to police sources, a team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Khalid Mahmood was manning a checkpoint near Village 173/EB when three suspicious motorcyclists were asked to stop.
Instead, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory action.
During the exchange of fire, one of the men was struck by bullets fired by his accomplices and died on the spot, while the remaining two managed to flee because of darkness.
