Wheat procurement: Anti-graft unit to monitor process

Plan chalked out to ensure transparency right from provision of gunny bags to farmers to procurement and payment

LAHORE:
The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment has decided to monitor the entire process of wheat procurement, starting from next month. A comprehensive plan has been chalked out to ensure transparency right from provision of gunny bags to farmers to procurement and payment. Necessary instructions have also been passed to the food department. This was informed by Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment Director General Brig (retd) Muzaffar Ali Ranjhain during a monthly review with the regional directors. He directed all directors to place banners at all wheat procurement centres, intimating addresses, phone numbers and mobile contact numbers of the anti-corruption offices concerned. Strict monitoring of corrupt officials of food department would be done and collusion of middleman and officials to blackmail the poor farmer would be slashed.
