Combating extremism: Radd-ul-Fasaad to eliminate terror, Shehbaz says

Says Pakistan Army has rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday Pakistan has achieved unprecedented success in war against terrorism and Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad would completely eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country.

The chief minister expressed these views during a meeting with Multan Corps Commander Lt-Gen Sarfraz Sattar and discussed security matters and Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. Shehbaz paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of the army in war against terror. He also paid homage to the sacrifices rendered by police officers, Jawans, and people from all walks of life. Shehbaz said brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army have rendered great sacrifices and displayed unprecedented courage in war against terrorism.



In his five-hour visit to Multan, the chief minister paid surprise visit to Kidney Institute and inspected the new building of Children Hospital Multan. Shehbaz expressed dismay and anger when some patients and their attendants at Kidney Institute told him they had to purchase medicine from their own pocket.

Directing the official concerned to return the money of medicines to the patients, he said billions of rupees were being spent on health sector but patients were still forced to purchase medicine from their own pocket.

In his message on World Consumer Rights Day, Shehbaz said the government was responsible for protecting the rights of consumers as per the Constitution of Pakistan. “The protection of consumer rights is included in the priority list of the government and the Punjab government is taking steps to protect the rights of consumers.”

He said that Consumer Protection Act has been enforced in the province. He said consumer courts have been established in 11 districts of Punjab under this act for the benefit of the consumers.
