IAPEX exhibition: Modern tools for suburban housing showcased
Exhibition features paint, lighting, flooring, furniture, kitchen and bathroom products
ISLAMABAD:
The annual Building Products Exhibition and Architects Convention opened in Islamabad on Friday, with the main focus on the suburban perspective of living in the twin cities.
With a rapidly rising population, the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are bursting at the seams. As a result, more and more people are opting to live in the suburbs while commuting to the city centre for work. Hence, a number of housing societies have sprung up in the suburbs.
In this backdrop, Dr AQ Khan opened the three-day exhibition where builders and architects showcased their ideas for modern, suburban houses.
Organised by the Institute of Architects Pakistan Rawalpindi-Islamabad Chapter (IAP-RIC), the expo features a number of stalls from renowned construction, paint, interior design and furniture brands.
A range of paint, lighting, marble, furniture, kitchen and bathroom fixture has been displayed at the exhibition.
IAP-RIC Chairman Kabeer Malik said the event was a unique opportunity for the public to meet some of the top professionals from the fields of architecture, interior design and product manufacture.
The architects’ convention will be held on Saturday (today) featuring presentations by renowned architects from across the country on contemporary design and eco-friendly living.
The theme for this year’s convention is suburban perspective, focusing on the architecture and development issues of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
“The convention will discuss ways to make the growth of the two cities more secure, safe and green. It will also discuss the state of building by-laws in the twin cities,” said Aqeel Shigri, a media coordinator for the event. The exhibition is open for public at Tulip Hall, Club Road, till Sunday.
