ABBOTTABAD: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote tourism in the valley, the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), will organise a day-long skiing festival on the Mushkpuri top on Saturday (today).

According to GFA spokesperson Ahsan Hameed, the festival is being organised to promote off-season tourism the area.

He added that the festival is part of a larger plan which includes a host of cultural and sporting activities which would be arranged from time-to-time.

Hameed further said that the festival was being arranged after receiving encouraging response from a one-day skiing festival organised last month.

Saturday’s event at the 9,200 feet-high Mushkpuri top was being organised by GDA in collaboration with Adventure Time Pakistan.

He added that GDA was expecting over 50 skiers, including 15 women and some children from different universities and colleges of Hazara to take part in the day-long festival.

Responding to a question, Hameed said that all contestants and spectators would be provided complete security through the deployment of police units in the area.
