Azad Jammu and Kashmir govt asks NRSP to explore the northern parts of AJK to set up a jam and jelly processing plant

MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has asked National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) to explore the northern parts of AJK to set up a jam and jelly processing plant and off-season tomato farming on the model of Agha Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP).

This was disclosed by AJK Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed who called on the Chief Executive of NRSP Rashid Bajwa and discussed the scope of the programme in Azad Kashmir.

The AJK minister, official sources later told APP -on Tuesday, emphasised for the NRSP to explore the northern areas of the State to set up a jam and jelly processing plant and off-season tomato farming on the model of AKRSP. Saeed emphasized that micro finance bank and various micro finance schemes were also an area of great potential in Azad Kashmir.

Bajwa highlighted the efforts of NRSP for setting up micro hydroelectric power projects in remote areas of AJK. He suggested strengthening the social development sector of AJK.
