Shoot-out with criminals: Suspects accused of attacking police killed in Quaidabad encounter

Remaining two militants accused of airport, Mehran Base attacks also identified

KARACHI: At least three suspected street thugs who were allegedly involved in attacks on law enforcers were killed during an alleged exchange of fire with the police in Quaidabad on Tuesday morning.

According to Malir SSP Rao Anwar, the encounter took place in Lalabad area of Quaidabad when three criminals were busy looting passersby. The police reached the site and asked them to surrender.

However, the suspects opened fire at the police, who retaliated and killed three suspects in the resulting exchange of fire. The police also claimed to have recovered weapons from their possession. Their bodies were shifted to Edhi morgue for identification.

Attackers identified

Separately, two of the seven suspected terrorists killed by the Rangers in an encounter in Shah Latif Colony on Monday morning were identified on Tuesday.

They were identified as Yasinullah and Wahid Alam alias Chohto.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the militants belonged to the banned sectarian outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and were also involved in attacks on the army, including those in the Shawal area of North Waziristan.

Earlier on Monday, five of their comrades were also identified.

These militants were found to be involved in various terrorist attacks in Karachi, such as the one at Karachi airport and another at PAF Mehran Base.
