JAMSHORO: The Chinese Consulate in Karachi and Sindh University Jamshoro have agreed to establish the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Research Centre at the varsity's Area Study Centre to develop research activities on the campus, as well as strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

According to a statement, Sindh University vice chancellor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat met Chinese Consul General Wang Yu at the university’s Area Study Centre in Jamshoro on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Burfat said the institution will soon soon introduce Chinese language as an optional subject in all the departments of the varsity. "A Chinese library was the need of the hour that must be setup as well," he added.

Yu said both the countries shared a great deal of cultural similarities.
