KARACHI:

In order to further promote economic cooperation between enterprises in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Asian countries, the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Saarc CCI) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Dubai.

Under the MoU, both sides will take measures to encourage and promote economic cooperation, exchange information, dispatch business delegates and take proactive steps to facilitate businessmen in Pakistan and Pakistani enterprises in UAE.

Saarc CCI Secretary General Iqbal Tabish said the role of the South Asian business community is vital for creating employment opportunities and earning foreign exchange for their respective countries.

Presently, trade between South Asian countries and UAE is about $25 billion, which is less than five per cent of the total trade volume between South Asian countries and the rest of the world.
