Mother attacks daughter, sets house on fire

MULTAN: A woman set her parents’ house on fire and attacked her 18-year-old daughter on the issue of her daughter’s marriage, police said on Wednesday.



Police said Razia, 42, a resident of Ameerabad, wanted to marry her daughter to a man of her own choice while Razia’s parents did not agree to the proposal. The issue had lingered on for the past two months and was the main reason behind the dispute between Razia and her parents.



On Monday night, Razia came to her parents’ house in Hassanabad and started quarrelling with them. She set the house on fire after exchange of harsh words. Police said Razia had also threatened to kill her daughter if the she refused to marry the man of her mother’s choice. Neighbours called police and Rescue 1122. With the help of neighbours, Rescue personnel extinguished the fire.
