Gone missing: CCTV footage sought for disappearance of petitioner’s son

The court also ordered the defence and interior secretaries to provide the video footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed inside Jinnah International Airport premises to the police officer investigating the disappearance of the son of the petitioner, who had moved the court against land-grabbing in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
One of the petitioners, who have filed the petition seeking removal of illegal encroachments from their plots in KDA Scheme 36, informed the judges that his son, Muhammad Siddique, had disappeared from the airport some 10 days ago.
He had pleaded that the court order the police and Rangers authorities to recover his missing son. On Wednesday, the Rangers law officer filed a report, saying the paramilitary force had neither detained nor arrested the petitioner’s son.
On the other hand, the police investigation officer said efforts were afoot to recover the missing man, adding that a letter was addressed to the Airport Security Force for provision of video footage of the CCTV cameras installed on the airport premises.
The bench directed the defence and interior secretaries to ensure provision of requisite footage to the IO. It directed the additional attorney-general to communicate and ensure compliance of the court order within three days and submit a compliance report.
