Uplift work: Renovation of Mayo Hospital’s old building begins

Renowned architect Nayyer Ali Dada would prepare the master plan for the hospital

LAHORE: Renovation of Mayo Hospital’s old building has been started with the support of the Friends of Mayo Hospital. An estimated Rs220 million will be spent on the renovation of wards, verandas and corridors of the hospital.

In the first phase, the west surgical ward will get a makeover. Renowned architect Nayyer Ali Dada would prepare the master plan for the hospital.

This was disclosed at a meeting held on Monday at the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SHME) Department chaired by Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah. A group of donors approached Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and shared their interest to renovate the dilapidated wards of the old building and improvement of services at Mayo Hospital.

Mayo hospital Chief Executive Dr Asad Ashraf said after completion of the renovation project, the Friends of Mayo Hospital would also help in improving services at the hospital.
