From point-blank: Trader shot dead during robbery bid
Police have registered case against unidentified culprits and started investigation

A trader was gunned down in firing incident within Bhagtanwala police limits in Sargodha on Monday.
A police official said Amer Khalji, a trader by profession and a resident of Sargodha, was on his way home from Bhagtanwala on a motorcycle when unidentified armed persons intercepted him near Chak No 84 and tried to snatch gold ornaments and money from him.
However, when he showed resistance, the outlaws opened fire on him from point blank range and fled the scene. As a result, Amer was killed on the spot. The body was handed over the family after postmortem. Police have registered case against unidentified culprits and started investigation.
Fatal road accidents
Two people were killed in different road accidents in Sahiwal and Mianai police limits. Police said Zaib Ahmad Awan, a resident of Habibabad, Sahiwal, was travelling on a motorcycle on Sargodha Road when a dumper hit him. Resultantly, Zaib died on the spot while the dumper driver fled the scene.
In another incident, a speeding car hit a pedestrian Muhammad Bashir at Bhera, Bhalwal Road killing him on the spot.
Arms, ammunition seized
Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two accused and recovered illegal weapons from them. Police spokesman said during routine checking Phularwan police flagged down a vehicle on Bhalwal Road and recovered four Kalashnikovs and 75,000 bullets from the vehicle. The accused were identified as Subhanallah and Naeem Khan, both residents of Peshawar. The weapons were being smuggled from Peshawar to Sahiwal district.
Traffic violations
The Excise and Taxation department has started operation against vehicles having illegal number plates, tinted glasses, green number plates, blue lights and tax defaulters. E&T Director Rana Intikhab Hussain said twelve teams of E&T department of Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Sargodha districts carried out operations at various points and checked 6,000 vehicles.
