Atrocities in Kashmir: India trying to divert world’s attention: COAS
Says Pak Army can give befitting response to any misadventure
LAHORE:
In a thinly-veiled warning to India over its continued ceasefire violations at the Line of Control, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the country’s military and paramilitary Rangers were girded for a befitting response to any border misadventure.
“Pakistan Army and Rangers are fully prepared for [a] befitting response to any misadventure from across [the border],” the army chief said during his visit to Lahore Garrison.
The army chief also observed that through these unprovoked acts of aggression India is trying to divert the world’s attention from its atrocities against innocent Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir.
He was briefed in detail about the operational preparedness of the armed forces and other matters at corps headquarters and headquarters of Pak Rangers Punjab.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations, Gen Qamar expressed his satisfaction on the operational readiness and appreciated Punjab Rangers for their effective response to “ongoing Cease Fire Violations (CFV) along the Working Boundary by Indian troops”.
While addressing officers and troops of Lahore Garrison, the army chief said the military and the Rangers in Punjab had played a significant role in warding off “internal security threats” as well as on the Working Boundary.
Gen Qamar also took them on board about the prevailing security environment and highlighted its challenges for the army.
The army chief said: “The nation acknowledges and fully supports Pakistan Army’s contributions in our fight against terrorism and militancy.”
“We shall always come up to the expectations of the people of Pakistan who are our real strength.”
Gen Bajwa also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. Earlier on arrival, the army chief was received by Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali, Commander Lahore Corps.
