The Citizens for Democracy is holding a signature campaign today to demand action against calls for violence and vigilante action and the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti.

The event is open to the public and people can come to sign the mass letter and post it.

The group’s initiative is being taken against “hate mongering, incitement to violence, acts of vigilante justice and the assasinations of Salmaan Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti, who stood up for their fellow countrymen”, said their press release on Friday.

On Thursday, at least 500 people added their signatures to the campaign to “promote respect for all sections of society, for the sake of religious harmony” during the memorial service held for the minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti at St Patrick’s Cathedral.

The signature campaign is taking place on Saturday, today, from 11am to 7pm outside the Jehangir Kothari Parade opposite Park Towers in Clifton.
