The father of the children has registered an FIR against five persons

SUKKUR: Two minor children were shot and wounded when assailants opened fired on their car outside their school within the limits of the Thari Mir Wah police station, Khairpur District, Monday morning.

The children, Sharjeel, Faisal and Umair, were in the car with their father Wali Dad Khabar, and were on their way to school. When they reached Faisal Public School, five armed men started indiscriminate firing on their vehicle and Sharjeel and Umair received bullet injuries while Faisal and their father remained unhurt.

The assailants managed to flee the scene, whereas the injured were shifted to taluka hospital Thari Mir Wah. According to the doctors, condition of both the children is now stable. Sharjeel is a student of nursery, Faisal studies in kindergarten and Umair is a student of class three.

A Thari Mir Wah-based reporter told The Express Tribune that a year ago Khabar tied the knot with Naila Chakrani, who is his second wife. According to him, their free-will marriage had sparked anger among the girl's relatives and since then, the girl's relatives wanted to take revenge. On Monday, he said, when Khabar reached outside the school with his children, the assailants, who were already hiding in the area, opened fire and injured his sons who are from his first wife.

The father of the children has registered an FIR against five persons.

The suspects have been identified as Attaullah Chakrani, Sanaullah Chakrani, Imdad Chakrani, Gul Bahar Chakrani and Sher Chakrani. Police also raided Bhai Khan Chakrani village and arrested one suspect, who has yet to be identified.

Thari Mir Wah SHO Abdul Malik confirmed the incident, claiming that an accused was arrested, however, he did not disclose his name.
