Money makes the world go round, and if something comes in the way of making money, it's best to simply make the inconvenience disappear.

This is exactly what Real Madrid appear to have done.

Los Blancos, as per the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, have removed the cross at the top of their crest for shirts that are to be sold in the Middle East.

The move, it is believed, will significantly boost Real Madrid's sales in the Muslim-dominant region as the cross-less jerseys will not have any link with any particular faith.

"We need to be mindful around certain areas in the Gulf," explained Khaled al-Mheiri, the vice-president of Marka, the company that holds the right to distribute Real's jersey in Middle East. “There is a certain sensitivity towards products which have a cross.”

The rest of Real Madrid's crest will remain unaltered.
