Garbage haul: Rs0.75m earmarked for Pindi waste management   

A cleanliness campaign would be initiated from February 5 to further improve waste management services in the city

RAWALPINDI: An amount of Rs0.75 million will be allocated in the upcoming provincial budget to improve cleanliness in the city.

Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chairman Raja Mohammad Hanif  said the company was disposing of 900 tonnes of garbage at Losar landfill site daily.

He said on account of RWMC's satisfactory performance other cities and institutions are seeking its services.

A cleanliness campaign would be initiated from February 5 to further improve waste management services in the city.

He said, whereever in the city the company is working you will witness a clean environment, adding the number of workers will be increased to further improve the service.

Raja Hanif said RWMC will take over garbage collection in Kahuta from March whereas the agreement for garbage collection at new Islamabad Airport has been given to RWMC.
