Government to set up its own warehouses for the storage of medicines

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered authorities to pursue a uniform strategy for the purchase of stents.

Addressing a health care system review meeting on Monday, Sharif said the government would set up its own warehouses for the storage of medicines with help from Turkey. He said five of them would be established by the end of year. The CM’s Inspection Team chairman presented his initial investigation report on the implantation of substandard stents in patients at the Mayo Hospital. The meeting also reviewed the public-private partnership model for the construction of new hospitals.

The Punjab government has decided to revamp procurement, distribution and storage system of medicines at public hospitals.

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said a new technology-driven system will uproot embezzlement and corruption to ensure the provision of medicines to the common man.

Addressing a healthcare system review meeting on Monday, Sharif said the government would setup its own warehouses for the storage of medicines with help from Turkey. He said five of them would be in established by the end of year.

He ordered the authorities to demarcate pieces of land for the establishment of hospitals at divisional headquarters under the public-private partnership.

He warned officials there should not be any complaint of the failure to provide ventilators at government hospitals.
