Exam mismanagement: 'Only 200 students didn't get roll numbers on time'

Chairman for Lahore BISE tells court board is trying to resolve the issue and provide relief to students.

LAHORE: The chairman of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) , Akram Kashmir, said on Wednesday that only 200 students could not get their roll number slips on time, adding that the board is trying to resolve the issue and the chief minister of Punjab has directed the administration to provide relief to the students.

Kashmir was speaking during the court hearing of the Matric examination case today (Wednesday). The court was hearing a writ petition today against an online system of registration and issuance of roll number slips for matriculation students.

Justice Azmat Saeed of LHC said that the court will not allow the future of even a single student to be wasted.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks and ordered a complete record of the students who sat for their exams and of those who didn't.

The annual matriculation exam began on March 5 under all eight BISEs. There was an outcry against missing roll number slips. Thousands of students, it was reported, could not sit the exam as they were unable to download their roll number slips or trace their examination centres.

The Punjab government, on the other hand, ran advertisements in several newspapers calling the online registration a big convenience. It claimed that the new system would help eliminate the booti mafia.

On Monday, the court had issued notices to Intermediate Boards over mismanagement in the Matriculation examinations.
