There is an urgent need for proper understanding of existing knowledge while conducting meaningful research.
This was stated by speakers at a seminar on ‘Using literature systematically as a research tool’ as part of a workshop on literature-based academic research at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Tuesday.
The workshop is part of a series of activities being arranged by the varsity to promote research culture in the country.
The seminar was arranged by the office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) in collaboration with the Department of Library and Information Sciences.
Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood of the Information Management department at Punjab University, deliberated at length on using literature for research.
