Karan Johar has been making headlines ever since he opened up about his sexuality and rift with Kajol in his biography An Unsuitable Boy .

In the book, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director also sheds light on his sporadic relationship with Shah Rukh Khan and his children, reported India Today.

Spilling the beans on his tussle with the superstar, Karan wrote, "Shah Rukh is a very possessive friend. I think I may have hurt him when I made a film without him."

I don't have a relationship with Kajol any more: Karan Johar

Stating he considers the Dilwale actor as an "older brother." Karan felt Shah Rukh had stopped giving him the fraternal feeling that he used to. "After I made the film without him, he didn't give me that paternal or fraternal feeling that I had from him otherwise. I think we were two hurt friends for no reason."

However, Karan revealed that the "simmering silent distance" between them ended when they ran into each other at the success party of Piku. "I hugged him instinctively and said, 'I've missed you'. And he said, 'You've no idea how much I've missed you'. We had this moment." He also stated that when the origin of the friendship is so strong, it just cannot die.

They have remained close friends for more than two decades, so much so that Karan considers Shah Rukh's family to be his own. He is extremely protective about the actor's three children - Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.

"I go to Gauri's house now to play with AbRam. Even if Gauri is not there, I go and sit with him and he comes and spends time with my mum all the time. She loves him. He is like a toy that you want to own," shared Karan.

"He came to the office the other day and the entire staff came out to see him. Everyone was behaving as if Brad Pitt had arrived. He was delighted with all the attention."
