Uncalled-For Hike: Plea filed against LBA election fee
LBA election board taking a one-sided decision doubled the nomination fee for the candidates
LAHORE:
A lawyer has gone to court against the Lahore Bar Association’s (LBA) decision to increase the nomination fee for candidates in the upcoming annual polls. Bushra Qamar, a member of Punjab Bar Council, stated in her petition to the Lahore High Court that the LBA election board taking a one-sided decision doubled the nomination fee for the candidates. Nomination fee for the seat of president has been increased to Rs500,000. She pleaded the LBA board did not consult the Pakistan Bar Council or the Punjab Bar Council on the matter while putting an unnecessary financial burden on the candidates. The petitioner requested the Lahore High Court to set aside the decision of the LBA election board and also take action against the board members.
