Child’s hands amputated: Family protests WAPDA ‘negligence’

LAHORE: The family of a minor child, whose hands were amputated at hospital after he suffered electric shocks, protested at Shahdara Chowk on Tuesday. The family and neighbours blocked roads, causing a massive traffic jam. GT and Sheikhpura roads remained blocked, leaving commuters stranded for hours. The worst traffic jam was seen on GT Road at Imamia Colony, on Sheikhupura Road at Begum Kot and Batti Chowk.

The protestors chanted slogans against the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) for their negligence. Two-and-a-half-year-old Asar sustained burn injuries on Wednesday when playing on his rooftop when a live electric wire fell on him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors had to amputate his hands.
