Annual Sports Day: Games and fun at Westminster

Students exhibit their skills with various activities held amidst energetic cheerleading displays.

ISLAMABAD:

Parents and teachers enjoyed a beautiful sunny morning cheering on students as they participated in a wide array of sports at Westminster School’s Annual Sports Day held on Saturday at Pakistan Sports Complex.

Raheel Sajjad Khan, the director of Westminster, inaugurated the competition. During his opening speech, he stressed the importance of sports for the holistic development of students.

Students had an opportunity to participate in a number of track and field events, including hurdles, 30, 50 and 100 metre races, relay race, sack race, three-legged race, egg and spoon race, long jump, javelin throw and shot put. Eight-year-olds putting in all their efforts to throw javelins was particularly interesting, while the long jump event was equally exciting.

The day was made even more festive by colourful and energetic cheerleading displays.

Students also exhibited their skills at Taekwondo, which is practiced regularly at the school. There was something for the parents and teachers to do as well, as they participated in races and tug-of-war competitions.
