Joining the year’s seemingly endless list of lawn exhibits, Lakhany Silk Mills (LSM) have launched their summer collection, bringing together multiple fabrics and embroidery with lawn. Their launch was held at the Hotel Marriott, Marque Hall, in Karachi on March 4.
The collection features light colours contrasted with darker shades, extensive hand embroidery and embellishment. Differentiating their offerings from other brands, LSM has introduced chiffon sleeves and dupattas for some of the suits.
Having diverted from their conventional collection, the brand is receiving mixed reactions from the customers. For Maryam Tanveer, the extensive embroidery on the lawn prints did not charm her. But for Faiza Zeeshan and Samra Jazaib, the collection was: “Inspiring as compared to the others who were offering the same product but at a higher price.”
The price range of LSM’s lawn collection begins from Rs1,300 and goes a little above Rs4,000.
Spotted at the event was model Rubab, who said: “I was waiting for the Zunn collection!”
Talking to The Express Tribune, Head of Textile and Fashion LSM, Waseem Fazal, said: “This time we have brought in 45 designs, catering to every class in the society. 15 designs belong to the designer series, 15 others are common design prints of lawn and some of them are single prints, which a creative woman can either design as a shirt or a shalwar, according to her sense of style.”
Pinpointing a few ladies who were wearing some previous designs from the House of Zunn, Fazal asserted that the brand is providing the best fabric in town.
“The fabric is of high quality. Its quality remains good throughout the year; it is not a cheap fabric that we are offering to our customers.”
On the catalogue, four Pakistani models have appeared.Asserting that Pakistani lawn brands should feature Pakistani models instead of Bollywood actors, Fazal said: “It is a Pakistani product, we should be proud of showing a Pakistani face on the cover. I believe all four models Rabia Butt, Mehreen Raheel, Fouzia and Uzma are not just pretty faces but they also know how to carry a lawn suit. That’s why they are the face of LSM this year.”
Arif Lakhani, director of LSM said: “We have received a positive response so far. Many people have appreciated the product, we fear that we might just run out of stock but hopefully will still exhibit our product at the hotel till March 7.”
