The ICC World Cup 2011 fever is rampant — from frenzied sports fans to designer labels that are now customising their products accordingly.
If you are a cricket fan, pitch in the deal and rejoice. Now, you too can become a part of the increasing cricket mania. Forget about boring t-shirts emulating the uniform of the Pakistani cricket team — you can now have eye-catching t-shirts available at a reasonable price to suit your style.
Maheen Khan’s Gulabo outlet located at Park Towers in Karachi, has launched six new t-shirt designs this spring, specifically targeting cricket fans. Talking about the latest offerings, the co-creative designer at Gulabo, Madiha Raza said: “new Gulabo t-shirts for the world cup are meant for every cricket fan. We have brought in t-shirts that state the obvious like Boom, Boom Pakistan slogan, for impact.”
Though Gulabo is relatively new, the brand has evolved on the freedom mantra. The designers capitalise on specific occasions like Independence day [August 14], besides regular collections available at the store.
The idea of bringing cricket t-shirts is the first of its kind this year, and, of course, the very first time in the history of Gulabo.
Priced between Rs700 and Rs1,000, the limited edition t-shirts are hot selling items given the teams performance thus far.
Gulabo’s target audience, Raza asserts: “is everyone. Everybody loves them. More importantly, the designs are not printed, the t-shirts are embroidered, it is about Pakistani’s being proud of cricket.”
Who came up with this idea? Raza says: “Maheen Khan, the person behind the designer label of Gulabo, supported the venture and said we should come out with t-shirts that support our team. She is an enthusiastic person and said we should all support our cricket team. “
The present collection is not enough to quench Gulabo’s creativity. The brand has four more designs in store which will be launched when Pakistan marches ahead, towards the the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and moves closer to being the world cup champions, “we might just have: Proven Yet Again,” asserts Raza.
The final word comes from Khan who says, “Gulabo is all about Pakistan. This time let’s celebrate cricket!”
